Schools.ink is a public school information directory. You can browse every page on this site without creating an account, signing in, or submitting personal information. This policy explains what limited data is collected when you visit, who it is shared with, and the choices available to you.

This policy covers the schools.ink website only. It does not cover external sites we link to, such as individual school websites or government education department pages, which publish their own privacy policies.

Information we collect

Schools.ink does not ask you to register and does not collect names, postal addresses or payment details. The data involved in a normal visit is limited to:

Technical request data your browser sends automatically, such as IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring page and the pages you view. This is standard web server and CDN logging used for security, abuse prevention and reliability.
Analytics data about how the site is used, such as which pages are opened, which searches are run, and how long a page is viewed. This is measured in aggregate and is not used to identify you personally.
Advertising data collected by third-party advertising partners through cookies and similar technologies, described in the advertising section below.
Anything you choose to send us. If you email Schools.ink, we receive your email address and the contents of your message.

How we use information

The information above is used only to operate and improve the directory:

To deliver pages, keep the site available, and protect it against abuse and automated attacks.
To understand which school profiles, suburbs and search terms are useful, so the directory can be improved.
To display advertising that helps fund the cost of hosting and maintaining the site.
To respond to enquiries, feedback and data correction requests you send us by email.

Schools.ink does not sell your personal information, and does not build marketing profiles or mailing lists from visitors.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored in your browser. Schools.ink uses a small number of them, and third parties we work with may set their own. Cookies on this site fall into three groups: essential storage that remembers your cookie choice, analytics cookies that measure site usage, and advertising cookies set by our advertising partners.

You can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. The directory will continue to work normally if you do, although the advertising you see may become less relevant.

Schools.ink displays advertising to cover the cost of running the site. Third-party vendors, including Google, may serve those advertisements.

Analytics

Schools.ink uses Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how the site is used, which pages are valuable, and where the experience can be improved. These services may set cookies or similar identifiers in your browser and may record aggregated interaction data such as clicks and scrolling.

Visitors in the European Union, United Kingdom and wider European Economic Area are asked for consent before any analytics or advertising scripts load. Declining prevents those scripts from loading at all. Your choice is stored in your own browser and can be reset by clearing site data for this domain.

School data published on this site

School profile pages are built from publicly released Australian school datasets, including school profile and school location data. These pages describe institutions, not individuals: they contain school-level figures such as enrolment counts, staffing totals, socio-educational indicators, sector, type and campus location.

Schools.ink does not publish information about individual students, parents or staff members. If you believe a school profile page contains an error, or information that should not be published, contact us and we will review it.

Data sharing and retention

We share data only with the service providers needed to run the site — our hosting and CDN provider, our database provider, our analytics providers and our advertising partners — and where we are required to by law. Server and CDN logs are retained only as long as needed for security and reliability. Email correspondence is kept for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.

Because these providers operate globally, data may be processed on servers located outside your country of residence.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data. In practice, the options available to every visitor are:

Decline analytics and advertising cookies where the consent banner is shown, or block cookies in your browser at any time.
Opt out of personalised advertising using the Google and industry opt-out links above.
Ask what information we hold about you, or request that correspondence you have sent us be deleted, by emailing contact@schools.ink.
Request a correction to a school profile page if you believe the published data is wrong.

Children's privacy

Schools.ink is a reference directory intended for parents, carers, researchers and members of the public. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the site changes, or as our analytics and advertising partners change. The date shown at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised, and the current published version always applies.
